For those of you who may not know, I am involved with an organization called Young Life here in York. This has been an amazing first full year being placed at Dallastown High School and serving young men involved in York Area Young Life. It has been a crazy, fun, and impactful year of growing friendships, walking alongside students, and getting the opportunity to disciple them and point them toward Jesus.

Young Life leaders step into the lives of students by showing up where they are, building real relationships, having fun, and earning the opportunity to talk with them about what matters most, the truth of Jesus and His love for them.

This summer, I have the opportunity to help lead a group of students from York to Young Life camp for a week. I went to Young Life camp when I was in high school, and it was one of the most impactful weeks of my life. I still remember how much fun it was, but even more than that, I remember how clearly I heard about Jesus in a way that felt personal and real. That is something I want the high schoolers I lead to experience too.

Young Life camp really is one of the best weeks of a kid’s life. They get to experience adventure, friendship, laughter, and a place where they are fully known and loved. But even more importantly, some students will hear the gospel clearly for the first time, and others will have the chance to grow deeper in their faith. Every part of the week is designed to help students see the love of Christ through the way they are served, cared for, and invited into community.

In order to help make this possible, I have set a goal to raise $1,000 through Give Local York to help send students to camp who may not be able to afford it on their own.
