Lancaster Intensive Day Treatment

Catholic Charities recognizes that tackling the issues faced by our young people results in resilient adults and a promising future for our community.

Catholic Charities provides a comprehensive day treatment program as a substitute for residential care, catering to the needs of at-risk youth in Lancaster County. This unique collaborative approach includes Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 as the education providers, while Catholic Charities staff address the behavioral health needs of the students.

Lancaster Intensive Day School is a year-round program, addressing the students’ educational needs during a traditional school year, but then extends the help during the summer where additional behavioral health services are offered. The program provides individual counseling, group therapy, life skills and family counseling to youth ages 9-15.

Lancaster Intensive Day School is a lifesaving program, working with children who are experiencing trauma, abuse, and other mental health issues. When a child joins the school, they do not know how to regulate their emotions and cope with their trauma. Through the compassionate team approach, teachers, therapists and behavioral health technicians teach the children how to cope, creating opportunity for them to return to their local school.

Each child has a specialized treatment plan, which may include family therapy.
