Little Library, Big Heart!

In April 1936, the community leaders decided that Glen Rock needed a library. The first location was on the second floor of the Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Building, where the rent was free, and the Fire Company paid for the utilities. The library was open five hours a week with Clara Neuhaus serving as the librarian until 1962. The Glen Rock Library is proud to be the fourth oldest and the first small town library established in York County.

While Hufnagel has grown over the years, our mission remains unchanged: To be a place where everyone in the community feels connected and supported. Since reopening in October, our goal is simple: to continue serving Glen Rock for the next 90 years and beyond.  With your support, we can achieve this goal.

The Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock is a focal point of our community serving residents and visitors of all ages. The Library sits just steps away from the scenic York County Rail Trail providing opportunities to get outside for some adventures in nature. Inside the library, in addition to a wonderful selection of books for all, we also have a children’s room, a wide variety of creative programming for patrons of all ages, a rotating art gallery, and a front row seat to the beautifully restored historic steam engine of the Northern Central Railway when it puffs through town.
