Mental Health America of York & Adams Counties

Mental Health America of York and Adams Counties offers two community-based programs. Our longest standing program is an organizational Representative Payee program which serves approximately 400 individuals each year who are struggling with mental illness or an intellectual/developmental disability. Our Rep Payees help clients who get SSA benefits and struggle with managing their finances establish a workable budget and help to ensure their rent, household, and personal expenses are accounted for. We also help our clients plan for the future with assistance with things like PA Able accounts and certain trusts. The goal of our program is to create organization and consistency in a person's financial life so they can focus on everything else. Our Representative Payee program has been in existence for over 25 years, serving York and Adams Counties, and now with limited program services in Lancaster and Lebanon!

• Our Rep Payee program helped Phillip, struggling with long-term homelessness, build up savings to be able to afford housing
• Another client, Charles, was able to pay off all of his fines with the help of our Rep Payee services, getting those out of the way so he can live without the stress of looming fines and notices
• Additionally, last year our Rep Payee program helped a client, Angie, recover over $30,000 in back payments and using these funds set up savings for Angie so she can feel peace of mind and security in her future
• MHA York/Adams has also partnered up with the Arc of Lancaster/Lebanon to expand our ability to help those in need in our SSA service vicinity

MHA's Consumer/Family Satisfaction Team (CFST) is dedicated to assessing the quality of behavioral health services through conducting interviews and discussions with over 300 mental health service recipients locally each year. CFST provides systems advocacy within the public mental health service system by highlighting what services are strong as well as acknowledging areas for growth and improvement based upon the feedback the team gathers. CFST staff also serve to assist individuals and families with finding additional community resources and supports they need through advocacy. This program has been in existence since 2001.
