Did you know that during a standard concert season, it would take the entire community's generosity to ensure our symphony thrives and shines brightly? In fact, professional orchestras on average generate only a mere 25-30% of their total budget from ticket sales.
What raises the curtain, stirs the orchestra, and allows us to fill your hearts and souls with harmony and joy, is the melodious contribution from individuals like YOU. Yes, it's your donations that are the real headliners of this show!
- Give for Music. Your donations are critical in crafting those magnificent performances that you have come to love and expect from us. Please know that ticket sales only cover 25% of our total expenses and it's generous donors like you who make us achieve the rest.
- Give for Education. Our YSO musicians and staff interact with over 12,500 students, nurturing their creativity, enhancing their skills, and sharing our love for music. We believe in the power of music and the lifelong lessons it teaches.
- Give to support the Arts. Our music is the melodious foundation upon which every great community is built. As a partner of the Cultural Alliance of York County, we embrace that larger mission as well. We always working toward the larger mission of elevating and emphasizing the importance of Art in our society.

Mission
Formed in 1933, the York Symphony has performed without interruption since the Depression, through World War II, and continues today. Our York Symphony Chorus was formed in the 1950’s and continues to sing with the YSO in concerts each season, as well as performing on their own. Up to Eighty musicians take the stage for each of the YSO’s concerts. Each season there are six Classical Series concerts, four Pops Series concerts, and two Young Person Concerts performing a broad repertoire of classical and contemporary music. The YSO also supports educational programs for grades K-12. In the last four years, the YSO has reached more than 15,000 students in over 35 different schools
