YMCA of the Roses

It is the mission of the YMCA of the Roses to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. We exist to develop and practice the principles of faith, hope, love, honesty, respect and responsibility.

 

For over 170 years, we have been spreading love and strengthening our community through programs focused on Healthy Living, Social Responsibility, and Youth Development. Youth Development:

At the YMCA of the Roses, we believe that all kiddos should be given the opportunity to learn, grow, and explore.

We know the world can be a challenging place for young people, especially those who come from low-income households or from underserved populations. That's why we offer a wide range of safe, accessible, and affordable programs for all families seeking reliable childcare or enriching extracurricular opportunities for their kiddos. Healthy Living:

At the YMCA of the Roses, we believe that all people, regardless of ability, should be given a supportive and welcoming environment to reach their wellness and fitness goals.

Healthy living programs help people make better lifestyle choices and improve their overall health and wellbeing. Our programs focus on various aspects of wellness such as nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and chronic disease prevention and management. Additionally, social and mental wellness are often overlooked, but our programs promote social interaction and community participation, which can play a crucial role in helping individuals lead a healthy and fulfilling life.

Social Responsibility:

At the YMCA of the Roses, we believe that all people should be given the tools, the support, and the opportunity to overcome obstacles and thrive.

For two years, YMCA of the Roses has operated the Clay Street Low Barrier Emergency Shelter inside Otterbein United Methodist Church. With the support of donors, volunteers, and community partners, we shelter 80 of our unhoused neighbors every night with extended hours through blizzards and heat waves. Last year, we served 804 unique guests who otherwise would have been on the streets. 

Our struggling neighbors need support, compassion, and patience. Thanks to our donors, we can uplift the members in our neighborhood out of many hardships and into stability by providing assistance and support to individuals and families that are struggling. This includes food assistance, housing assistance, emergency shelter, and more. For more information about the work we do to help the most vulnerable in our community, click here.
