Breaking Barriers. Building Careers. Changing Lives.

In 2025 -- our inaugural year, TEC Centro York served 574 individuals, graduated 95 students, and achieved an 88% completion rate across workforce training programs. Our graduates are earning an average of $18.34/hour — more than double minimum wage. Research shows every dollar invested in workforce training returns up to $8 in economic growth for Pennsylvania.

Your Give Local York donation is a direct investment in York County's economic future.

What Your Donation Makes Possible

TEC Centro York provides bilingual education and hands-on workforce training that moves adults from unemployment to family-sustaining careers in high-demand fields. Our programs remove the barriers — language, credentials, access — that keep motivated people from filling the jobs York County employers need filled right now.

  • Career Training Programs: Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, Physician Office Assistant, Dental Assistant
  • Adult Education: English as a Second Language (ESL), HiSET/GED Preparation, Digital Literacy
  • Employment Services: Career counseling, resume assistance, workshops, job fairs and employer connections

On average, adult learners pay about $100 for their program. The true cost is underwritten through charitable dollars, government grants, and philanthropy — including your support. In 2025, 70% of every dollar spent went directly to programs serving people in our community.

Our Inaugural Year: Proof-Positive Results

Since opening our doors at 800 East Market Street in January 2025, TEC Centro York has delivered measurable impact:

  • 574 individuals served across all programs
  • 95 graduates celebrated at our first graduation ceremony
  • 88% completion rate in workforce training programs
  • 313 new ESL enrollments, with 153 individuals improving English proficiency
  • 369 individuals gaining technology skills through digital literacy programs
  • 205 individuals actively engaged in job search through employment services
  • Average placement wage of $18.34/hour

When our graduates move into careers, they fill critical job vacancies, contribute to the tax base, and invest in their families. That is the ripple effect of workforce development.

483+ People Are Waiting

Right now, 483 individuals are on our active waitlist — ready and motivated to begin training, but waiting for the funding that makes it possible. The estimated cost to serve everyone on that waitlist is $2.17 million. Every Give Local York donation helps us reduce that number and get more people into careers.

Coming Soon: Skilled Trades Training

York County faces a growing shortage of skilled workers in both healthcare and the construction trades.

This year, TEC Centro York is finalizing acquisition of a dedicated Trades Training Facility in York to launch programs in Facilities Maintenance, HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical — fields where employers are struggling to find workers today.

Your support now helps build the foundation for this expansion and the next generation of skilled tradespeople in York County.

A Proven Model With a Track Record

TEC Centro York is part of the Tec Centro Workforce Network, a coalition spanning six centers across five Pennsylvania counties. This is the same proven model that helped Lancaster City reduce its poverty rate from 29% to 18.7%. In 2024 alone, the Network transformed $6.5 million in state funding into more than $31 million in economic impact.

We are bringing that same approach to York — and the early results speak for themselves.
