YCAL is able to have a career education impact on the lives of students in York County for under $20/student

You may say "you've been saying that for years...what about inflation?"  Well we've managed to do it...and here's how (please keep reading)!

The York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL) is a 501(c)(3) intermediary organization that works with businesses and schools to provide career education, relevant academic experiences, and work based learning to York County students. The mission of YCAL is to connect educators and employers to engage students in career exploration and development. 

For Students, YCAL provides direct impact through the Career Education Readiness Workshop held in March, the catalog of over 30 different Career Exploration Programs, which are offered at different times throughout the school year, the various Pre-Apprenticeship Programs, and the Manufacturing Days Tours.  All of these programs provide students with opportunities to explore careers, develop skills, and make a more informed career decision.

For Educators, YCAL provides several programs that assist in providing educators with career education resources to impact their students.  In January, YCAL announces the recipients of Innovation Grants to help fund innovative career exploration and awareness projects and the Career Education and Work Standards Symposium to provide sample lessons and other resources to assist in the inclusion of career education in curriculum.  YCAL also intermittently holds business and education partnership meetings to address important topics that help address needs of schools and the work force that can be better accomplished when working together.  

YCAL's efforts directly impacted directly impacted the lives of 1,771 students with in-person programs during the 2023-2024 school year!  At the time of Give Local York, we have already reached over 1,600 students during the 2024-2025 (and we're not done yet!).
