YOUR DONATION WILL FUND A NEW EXHIBIT IN OUR CHILDREN'S AREA!
The Appalachian Trail Museum’s 2025 Give Local York campaign honors amazing young hikers and tells the stories of their adventures hiking on the Appalachian Trail. We are seeking your donations to fund a new Young Hiker Scrapbook & Exhibit. This will include a large scrapbook filled with pages telling the stories of young Appalachian Trail hikers and what it is they love about this special trail. The scrapbook will feature photographs and stories telling museum visitors about these unique young hikers and will also feature an exhibit displaying some artifacts from these hikers - gear, hiking packs, shoes, etc... Your donation to the AT Museum's 2025 Give Local York campaign will allow us to complete this new exhibit in the children's area of the museum.
The Appalachian Trail Museum is a world-class institution that preserves and interprets the history of the Trail; engages visitors in the present-day Trail and its community, and creates a call-to-action to maintain and preserve the Appalachian Trail and its culture into the future.
The Appalachian Trail Museum collects, preserves, displays, and interprets materials related to the Appalachian Trail following best practices and striving for excellence in operations, visitor services, and portrayal of the Appalachian Trail experience.
The Appalachian Trail Museum is located in the Old Mill, Pine Grove Furnace State Park, along the Appalachian Trail and very close to its mid-point in Michaux State Forest, PA.
The museum opened its doors to the public on June 5, 2010. Today, exhibits occupy three floors of the Old Mill and engage visitors of all ages in exhibits that tell the history of America's first National Scenic Trail, its present-day hiking culture, and its future as a footpath that invites all to experience the best of the "Wild East" from Maine to Georgia. A research library occupies the upper floor.
Volunteers are critical to the success of the Appalachian Trail Museum and assist in every aspect of operating the museum, such as cataloging artifacts, welcoming visitors, gardening, painting, planning exhibit, offering programs, etc. We invite you to join our A.T. museum community by contacting the museum manager at manager@atmuseum.org.
