Little Library, Big Heart!
In 2024, the Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock was forced to temporarily close after 88 years for repairs and remediation due to water damage.
YCL, Arthur’s Friends and Borough officials met to assess the building and develop a plan. The first step in this plan: raising $140,000 to ensure all necessary work can be completed, making the library safe and sound for years to come.
Arthur’s Friends launched a major fundraising campaign and as of April 2025, a major milestone has been reached—$110,000 raised!

The Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock is a focal point of our community and serves residents and visitors of all ages. The Library sits just steps away from the lovely York County Rail Trail. Our library activities can often take us outside for some adventures in nature! Inside the library, we have a children’s room, public computers, lots and lots of books, a rotating art gallery, and sometimes, a string quartet playing in the stacks! Besides a wonderful selection of books for all, our library gets a front row seat to the beautifully restored historic steam engine of the Northern Central Railway when it puffs on by.

The Arthur Hufnagel Public Library has been serving the Glen Rock Borough and surrounding areas of Codorus and Shrewsbury Townships since 1936. This mighty little library is located right on the Heritage Rail Trail. Steam into History trains pass us by during the summer hours and at Christmas time. We encourage you to come in and explore what we have to offer the community.
