DreamWrights has been part of York since 1997. Most people have driven past the building on Carlisle Avenue. Not everyone has walked in. The ones who do tend to keep coming back.

It runs almost entirely on volunteers. The sets, the costumes, the lights, the camps — all of it happens because people give their time because this place means something to them. But the doors stay open because of donors like you.

Your gift helps open doors for kids and teens who want to explore theatre but might not otherwise be able to. It creates connection across generations, with seven year olds learning beside sixty year olds. It funds the rehearsals, the camps, and the mentorship that turns a shy kid into someone who knows how to lead, collaborate, and keep trying when things get hard.

As one community member put it: "It's a place where you can be yourself and also learn who you are. It teaches kindness, respect, empathy, and perseverance. It's a place that lets you try again."

Every gift, whatever the size, helps make sure the next person who walks through that door finds what so many others have found here.

DreamWrights exists to create inclusive, intergenerational arts experiences that do more than entertain. We believe that making art together builds character, confidence, and community. Those aren't just words to us. They show up in everything we do: inclusion, acceptance and empathy, lifelong learning, leadership and mentorship, respect and responsibility, and creativity and community.
