Greater Dover Area Dollars
for Scholars Inc., was established in October 2002, “to
provide monetary assistance for students of the Dover Area School District, by
promoting the
Dollars for Scholars program, raising funds for student aid distribution, and
distributing awards
on a fair and nondiscriminatory basis“. All applications are screened according
to objective
criteria from Scholarship America, our parent organization. In addition to the
funds raised
Greater Dover Area Dollars for Scholars Inc., we also facilitate scholarships
for other local
groups who support our students with scholarships. We also have established
over $200,000 in
endowments with the York County Community Foundation (YCCF). Last year, Greater Dover Area
Dollars for Scholars Inc., awarded scholarships totaling $11,500 to nine students. An additional $19,200
in scholarships from YCCF and the other groups whose funds we oversee were awarded to 12 students.
Additionally, Greater Dover Area Dollars for Scholars Inc. would like to grow its’ volunteer board and is in
search of individuals interested in becoming volunteer board members.
