Our Vision:

The Bodhana Group advocates the use of tabletop gaming as a directed therapeutic and clinical practice that can benefit personal growth as well as enhance social and educational services to individuals and families.

Basically, we believe that the inherent benefit one gets from playing games can be focused and utilized to make one better. Better at math or reading. Better at socializing or emotional expression. Better at coping skills. Better at life.

Our Mission:

Recognizing the need for holistic treatment, the Bodhana Group seeks to improve the continuum of care to those served by the human services field by researching and developing best practices, educating the community and facilitating the implementation of innovative programs. The Bodhana Group was officially incorporated on May 4th, 2009 as a non-profit corporation in the state of Pennsylvania. We are overseen by a Board of Directors comprised of experienced Human Services professionals and members of the community who champion the vision of our organization.

Our Projects:

Community game groups held in game stores, libraries, and anywhere we can fit a table

Professional game groups and focused on building specific skill sets for foster family organizations, afterschool programs, and assisted living facilities

Professional and community training and consultation

Our long-term goal of opening our own community gaming center that will provide all of these services, including summer day camps, afterschool programs, therapeutic role playing groups, and so much more!

KIDS ARE IN A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS IN THIS COUNTRY. THE POWER OF PLAY IS A SOLUTION.

The benefits of art, music and equine therapy have become widely adopted as verified and crucial tools in the treatment of mental and physical health.

At the Bodhana Group, we're here to introduce one more tool to the toolbox - the power of play.

Gaming isn’t just entertainment—it can be a powerful tool for healing and for creating community.
Therapy-based gaming combines the engaging nature of board and role playing (RPG) games with proven mental health strategies to help individuals process emotions, build resilience, and develop social and coping skills in a safe, supportive environment.

Your donation helps fund innovative, accessible programs that make therapeutic gaming available to those who need it most.

The Bodhana Group, established as a nonprofit organization in 2009 operates in three pillars:

PLAY:  Small tabletop gaming groups for kids to learn about healthy ways to cope with personal diagnoses, build resilience, and build soft skill development that will equip them for lifelong success.

LEARN: Training opportunities for other area nonprofits, health centers, youth centers, and other organizations to introduce therapy-blended gaming into their program design, pushing our reach not only to our direct individual served but individuals across the area and beyond.

EXPAND: Community Engagement and intervention initiatives, educating the public about the benefits of therapy-blended gaming and crafting programs and curriculums that meets the needs of an ever-changing York County.

Role playing and storytelling games provide a nurturing and safe environment where people can work through trauma, anxiety, and other emotional issues through the medium of play that replicates and borrows from other therapeutic techniques.

We now offer a diverse range of services utilizing modern tabletop gaming for:

  • Skill building capacities
  • Challenging behaviors
  • Anxiety and Depression and other mental health diagnoses
  • Persons experiencing Autism

Training and consultation for professionals and agencies for:

  • Learning how to run therapeutic role play games (RPGs)
  • Developing their own game-based programs
  • Managing challenges to game-based programs

In addition, The Bodhana Group has donated over 4000 games to local area nonprofits and agencies to jumpstart their library of gaming services to their clients!
