York Chess Club is looking for 2,000 neighbors to join the Pawn Storm by giving just $10 each to raise $20,000 for youth chess programs across York County.

Chess for Everyone

Chess brings people together. It is played in every corner of the world and transcends age, language, and background. By supporting York Chess Club, you are not just paying for vinyl boards and plastic pieces, you are helping young people in York connect to a growing network of players across the state, the nation, and the world.

The Impact

All of the money raised will support free and low-cost chess activities in and around York. Our goal for the year is to raise $5,000 to cover York Chess Club's operating costs and $15,000 to fund chess mini-grants for local schools (public and private), homeschool groups, religious organizations, and other organizations that serve youth in York County. These grants will provide:

  • Chess Equipment: High-quality sets and clocks

  • Access: US Chess Federation memberships and entry to York Chess Club tournaments

  • Direct Support: Any remaining funds can be used by the grantees to support their chess programs

To foster leadership and financial literacy, we will encourage youth participation in the grant request process.

Make Your Move

Pawns are the smallest and least valuable pieces on the chess board, but they can move in coordination to create a quick and powerful attack called a Pawn Storm. Your $10 contribution is key to building that kind of momentum. Donate $10 today and ask your friends to donate, too.
