Care Card Program

Clothing is a basic human necessity, yet countless individuals and families struggle to afford it in times of crisis. Whether experiencing homelessness, escaping domestic violence, or living paycheck to paycheck, many clients face clothing insecurity. Nonprofits frequently share that meeting this need requires them to divert precious program funds away from services like food, shelter, or counseling.

The Care Card Program addresses this challenge directly. We provide Care Cards to nonprofit partners, who distribute them to their clients. With a Care Card, families shop in our thrift stores with dignity, choosing clothing, shoes, and household essentials at no cost. For example, local families displaced by fires or other emergencies receive our Care Cards through our partnership with American Red Cross, giving them immediate access to needed clothing and household items. This program ensures that nonprofits never need to use programming funds to purchase clothing, allowing them to stay focused on their missions while their clients’ immediate needs are met. In 2025, we distributed over $260,000 in Care Cards to individuals and families in need throughout the Central PA region.
